Beautiful handmade baskets, also called garlic gourd baskets. These come from Bulawayo in Zimbabwe. These baskets are woven entirely by hand from Iala palm leaves. The youngest soft leaves are boiled to bleach them and make them flexible. After drying in the shade, they are suitable for weaving. These baskets are used to carry grain.
