Rudraksha are the seeds of the fruits of the Rudraksha tree. The name 'Rudraksha' comes from Hindu mythology and means the tears of Shiva. God Shiva meditated on the welfare of mankind and shed tears of compassion. The tears turned into Rudrakshas after hitting the earth. Since then they have been sacred berries for the Hindus.

For many centuries they have been worn spiritually and used by Hindus and Buddhists for meditation. Rudraksha beads are considered very sacred and are said to have a healing effect.
